Our Mission

United Way of Mid Rural New York builds partnerships and maximizes resources to improve the quality life for local residents in the focus areas of income, education and health.

Our Goals

Financial Security – building financial stability and strength. Associated initiative examples could include (but are not limited to) job readiness and workforce development, adult education and job training, financial education and coaching, homelessness prevention and affordable housing, transitional housing, free income tax assistance, public benefits access.

 Youth Opportunity – helping young people realize their full potential. Associated initiative example could include (but are not limited to) childcare and early childhood development, in-school, after-school and summer learning, family engagement, literacy development, college and career readiness/mentoring.

Healthy Community – improving health and well-being for all. Associated initiative examples could include (but are not limited to) health access and equity, maternal and child health, nutrition and food security, disease awareness and prevention, mental health support, substance misuse, prevention and recovery.

Community Resiliency – addressing urgent needs today for a better tomorrow. Associated initiative examples could include (but are not limited to) disaster relief and recovery, emergency preparedness, crisis hotline and support.

 

These goals are ambitious, but with your help, and by utilizing our core strengths — a national network, committed partners and public engagement capacity — we can achieve them.

At the United Way, we must all do our part to make our communities the places that we need them to be – equitable, respectful, inclusive and opportunity-filled. We can- and must- do better to guarantee that the basic human rights and freedoms of every person in every community are protected.

We embrace and value diversity, equity, and inclusion for every person in every community by:

•    Valuing the visible and invisible qualities of our community;  
•    Welcoming every person who brings a unique perspective and experience that helps to advance our mission
•    Providing all community members with equal access to both give and receive in solving community problems; 
•    Striving to include diversity, equity, and inclusion at the center of our daily work.

United Way disburses their annual campaign dollars out into the community to better meet the needs of the community to ensure a multitude of resources are available for future needs.

Volunteer Opportunities
